At what age can you start to apply for your learners licence
- Code 1: Must be 16 years or older for Code A1 Driving Licence; and 17 years for Code A Driving Licence
- Code 2: Must be 17 years or older
- Code 3: Must be 18 years or older
How do you apply? (to pass the NaTIS learners licence)
You go to a NaTIS drivers licence Testing station and bring along
-A copy of Your ID
- Fee
Can I choose the date on which I take the test?
You can try to ask the person assisting you at NATIS but most of the time they will allocate you the day for testing.
On the day: (to pass the NaTIS learners licence)
Go to the NaTIS testing office and bring along:
- a pen/pencil,
- Receipt and ID
- Remember to bring along the issuing fee
You’ll conduct an eye test as your first action. If you don’t feel like getting your eyes checked, just bring your eye test certificate to the appointment to show that you can see clearly and don’t have any eye issues. The purpose of the eye test is to ensure that you have healthy eyes and that NaTIS is not simply allowing blind people to operate motor vehicles.
If you know that you have eye problems, make sure that you get spectacles before you go so that you can see clearly. If you don’t have good vision, they won’t let you take the test. If you don’t pass the test, they will advise you to visit an optometrist.
The test can only be administered after you have completed the eye examination. There were only oral tests available in our day; there were no written tests. They have now created multiple-choice exams across the nation!
How is the written multiple-choice exam set up?
They give you about an hour to write and test you in three sections
- Rules of the road
- Traffic signs
- Controls of the vehicle
How does it work?
Its not like a test that is out of 100 and you need to get a 50% to pass…There are sub minimums in each category that you need to get in order to pass. If for example you do not meet the sub minimum in one of the categories then you automatically fail.
For example, if you need to get a certain number of correct answers in the category of the rules of the road, then in the next category, which is road signs, you need to get a certain number of correct answers. Then, for the final one, vehicle controls, you need to get at least a certain number of correct answers to pass.
Avoid approaching the exam with the mentality that you will pass if you achieve 80% or higher.
Our website has a learners licence section that can help you get a Hundred percent.
When you pass the test, they will let you know to go back to their office and get the learners licence paper
How can you make sure that you are going to pass the NaTIS Learners licence test?
You need to read well and pay attention to detail. They sometimes ask the same question in different ways, so if you don’t actually understand what you are doing then you will definitely fail.
