Guide to NSFAF Special Considerations

NSFAF Special Considerations

Looking for NSFAF Special Considerations? Financial aid plays a crucial role in helping students pay for their education, especially for those who come from low-income backgrounds. The Namibia Students Financial Assistance Fund (NSFAF) provides financial assistance to eligible students who are pursuing higher education. However, sometimes students may need to make changes to their courses, institutions, or loan agreements, and NSFAF provides special considerations for such circumstances. This blog post will provide a comprehensive guide to the NSFAF special considerations, the required documents, and tips to make your application process smoother.

Change of Courses:

NSFAF will not approve changes of courses after they have paid for two academic years, except in cases where a student is progressing to the subsequent academic year. Students who repeat years or modules will have to bear the cost themselves, and changing from high priority fields of study to low priority fields of study will not be considered.

Changing course or institution: NSFAF Special Considerations

Change of Institutions:

NSFAF will not approve changes of institutions after they have paid for two academic years, except in cases where a student is progressing to the subsequent academic year at the new institution. If a student wishes to change a course and transfer to an international institution, they must re-apply for financial assistance and meet the NSFAF international award requirements. Transferring to international institutions will be based on the initial award rate as per agreement.

Loan Extensions:

Loan extensions may be approved for one academic year or semester only and in exceptional cases, due to university curriculum changes or extensions. Loan extensions for N4-N6 students may be considered if they are admitted to an approved VTC to continue with the same field of studies. VTC students must commence their studies within one year after completing N3 level and must complete within two consecutive academic years. Loan extensions due to medical reasons must be supported by a medical report from a registered doctor and a letter from the Faculty Officer/Head of Department.

Loan Deferment:

Loan deferment may be approved for one year only and must be based on justifiable circumstances. The student must submit a letter of de-registration with the institution.
