I am taking you back to the basics and teaching you a step by step solution on how I started a blog/website from a small town called Rundu in Namibia…
Making money from a blog/website in Namibia is not an impossible task to do… You just need to follow a simple guide.
If I could make it, anyone can do it! I dropped out of the University of Namibia. It is a lot easier than you think… I am going to break it down into simple steps that you can easily follow to create your blog and start making passive income.
Starting a blog can be as cheap as N$800 the whole year. I also run an initiative called Collective Success, where I choose 3 or 4 people to work with every month. I will pay for every expense that they will incur in the first year of starting the blog, and then let them handle everything when they start earning enough income.
I will give you the same steps I used to create a blog that makes a passive income of at least N$12000 every month.
I would like to make it super easy for you to follow in my footsteps and start making money online.

When I started out I did not know the power of blogging… I love the freedom that I have, I can work from anywhere I am as long as the internet connectivity is available. I have managed to achieve making money online even when I am sleeping… The best thing about having a blog is the way that it has helped me grow and become the person I am today.
Starting a blog does not require you to be a popular person with a huge following, you really do not need a lot of followers to be successful!
I started my blog while helping out my parents run a business at the village in Kavango east. If I can do it, so can you! If you do it correct then you can definitely earn a significant amount of money online… You should aim to create value for your readers and have the right discipline and commitment to make your blog/website successful.
Before I go into the steps to start your blog, you need to answer why you are starting a blog/website:
Are you tired of having a day job?
Do you want to impact a lot people?
Do you just want to create a part-time gig?

Step 1: Decide on the niche you want to target.
Outline the topic you want to blog about, and create a blog name that will resonate with your brand and readers. It does not have to be set in stone, you can change it in the future… Blogging is all about writing things that revolve around things that matter to you and your readers. You can change your niche and brand in the future if the market has changed or if it is not viable.

Try to target niches with a hot market… Markets with a high number of users and fewer competitions will be a good target for beginners.
Take your time to research and brainstorm the brand you want to create. Your branding decision will be one of the hardest tasks you will do. It is what will connect you to your readers!
Step 2: Choose where you will host your Website/blog
You should look for a hosting service that best suits your needs. This is a place where your website or blog will be hosted on the internet.
This will be like renting a space in a mall for your business. You can try out our initiative called Collective Success… If we think your idea is viable we will take care of all your expenses for one (1) year.

Collective Success
We will pay for your domain and hosting services for 12 months so that you will only have to worry about creating content and perfecting your website/blog. With Collective Success, we will select 3 to 4 people and help them create their blogs/websites. We will take care of the expenses of creating your blog in the first 12 months, you have to be a Namibian Citizen for you to qualify.
Free Hosting services is not advisable
You should only look for paid/self-hosting options if your main goal is to start a business that will make you passive income in the near future. You need to own your domain name and going with the free options will come with a lot of limitations.
Step 3: Install WordPress
Namibia” class=”wp-image-28506″/>how to start a blog in Namibia
WordPress is one the most popular CMS that I have used to create and easily manage my websites/blogs. It is one of the most used CMS, which makes it easier for you to find tutorials and solutions when you run into a problem.
It also has a lot of themes and plugins that will make your website/blog a success. In this post, I am talking about wordpress.org, not wordpress.com
wordpress.com is a free option, I would not recommend you to use a free option if you are starting a blog to make money online.
Choose a theme that suits your brand. The theme that I would recommend to you is Astra. It loads fast, this will make your blog load faster when a user visits your blog. It is a flexible theme and easy to customize.
You do not need to know about HTML or CSS, it is easy to set up and has awesome designs that you can edit to match your brand. You can try out their free theme and see how easy it is to use.

In my case, I have been using the same free theme on all my websites because it is easy to organize, edit and showcase my different brands…
Do not spend a lot of time using a lot of colours/fonts, that is not necessary! It will also slow down your website, you should spend more time on creating content.
Step 5: Start Blogging

If you are done setting up your theme, then you have done it! Before you run and tell all your friends and family about your blog, you need to create a few static pages like the homepage, about us, terms and conditions.
You should also consider writing at least 8 or 10 blog posts so that the first people to visit your website will have something to read.
You do not want your visitors to go to a website that has empty pages, that will not be a good impression.
Step 6: Social Media accounts
You need to create social media accounts where you can share your blog posts when they are launched. If you have already started a brand, it would be advisable to create social media accounts that match your brand. You do not want to confuse your readers if the blog and social media accounts have different names.
In my case, I solely use social media to market my websites. This is one of the best ways my users will get to know more about my brands and build trust.
