Bachelor of Nursing and Midwifery Science (Hons)

Higher Ground Training College Minimum Entry Requirements
To be admitted to the Bachelor of Nursing and Midwifery Science Honours Degree program, applicants should meet the following requirements:
- Hold 25 points in 6 subjects with a grade of D or better in English at NSSC or a grade of D at NSSCAS level as per APS scale, or 30 points in 6 subjects at Grade 11.
- Have at least two (2) Science subjects, namely Mathematics, Physical Sciences, and developmental studies (including Biology, which is compulsory).
- Enrolled Nurses who wish to become registered nurses will be admitted as part of recognition of prior learning. Such applicants should have at least 22 points in the Grade 12 examination or better, a minimum grade of E in English, and a minimum of 2 years of work experience as an Enrolled Nurse.
Certificate in Enrolled Nursing and Midwifery / Accoucheur
The Certificate in Enrolled Nursing and Midwifery / Accoucheur course is designed to prepare individuals who will work at various healthcare levels to address the health needs of the Namibian people and beyond. Higher Ground Training College Minimum Entry Requirements
To be eligible for the Certificate in Enrolled Nursing and Midwifery / Accoucheur program, prospective candidates should meet the following requirements:
- Entry requirements are according to the revised circular Formal Education: 9/2021.
- Prospective candidates should have a minimum of 20 points in five (5) subjects, not exceeding 3 examination sittings.
- English, as a second language, is compulsory, with a grade of E or better.
- Other subjects considered are Biology and Physical Science.
- Students may also be admitted if they hold a valid NSSC (National Senior Secondary Certificate) at an ordinary level. A minimum of 22 points based on the National Evaluation Scale in six (6) subjects in grade 12 is required. English should have an E symbol or better. The candidate should have passed two (2) science subjects that include Biology, Mathematics, Physical Sciences, Developmental Studies, and Agricultural Studies.
- For applicants using the Grade 11 system, a minimum of 27 points in 6 subjects is required, with at least a grade of D in English and a pass in Biology.
It is important to note that provisions will be made for applicants recommended by the Prime Ministers office through its regional arms for vulnerable groups, as per the Affirmative Action Act. Additionally, all applicants are required to undergo an aptitude test, and only those who pass the test will be admitted to the program.
