Incentive Options for AS Level Students Applying to UNAM
Introduction and Background: UNAM recognizes the competition in attracting and recruiting the best students from a relatively small pool of about 9,000 students who will write the Advanced Subsidiary (AS) examination. To make UNAM a university of choice for these students, the university has created optional financial incentive packages.

Proposal Incentive Options:
UNAM offers three financial incentive options for AS qualifying students to choose from:
- Discount Incentive: This option includes a waiver on registration fees (excluding the Student Union Contribution of N$150) and a 10% discount on tuition fees for the first year, potentially amounting to a total discount of N$3,270.
- Hostel Incentive: This option guarantees AS qualifying students accommodation space in the hostel, with a quarter of the hostel spaces at various campuses reserved for these students. There are no additional cost implications for this incentive option, as students will still be required to pay the hostel fee.
- Other Incentive Options: UNAM considered other options such as book voucher incentive, photocopying/printing credit allowance incentive, and laptop incentive, but the three options mentioned above were recommended and approved for offer.
These financial incentives aim to make education more affordable and accessible for AS/Grade 12 students applying to UNAM. By providing discounts on registration fees, tuition fees, and priority housing, UNAM is committed to attracting and supporting the best students in pursuing their higher education.
