How to Apply for an Emergency Travel Document in Namibia

If you need to travel urgently and don’t have a valid passport, don’t worry, an Emergency Travel Document (ETD) can be issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration in Namibia. It is a temporary passport that allows you to travel for a limited time. In this blog post, we will guide you on how to apply for an ETD in Namibia.

Application Requirements:

To apply, you need to submit the following documents:

  1. Application Form: You can get an application form from any Namibian embassy or consulate, or you can download it from the Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration website.
  2. Original and certified copy of Birth Certificate (full or abridged) or Citizenship Certificate: You will need to submit either your original birth certificate or citizenship certificate, along with a certified copy.
  3. Original and certified copy of Identity Document or proof of application of ID: You will need to submit either your original ID document or a proof of application for an ID, along with a certified copy.
  4. Passport photo x 2: You will need two passport-sized photos taken within the last six months.
  5. Married Women: Certified copy of Marriage Certificate: If you are a married woman who has not updated your ID to your husband’s surname and want his surname on your passport, you will need to submit a certified copy of your marriage certificate.
  6. Divorced Women: Certified copy of Divorce Certificate: If you are a divorced woman wishing to revert back to your maiden surname, you will need to submit a certified copy of your divorce certificate.
  7. Minors (under 16): Original parent’s identification: If you are under 16 years old, you will need to submit your original parent’s identification. If you are over 13 years old, you will also need to be present for signature.

Fees:

The fee for an Emergency Travel Document is N$120, which is payable when submitting your application.
