How to change your PIN (FNB)
You recently received your new contactless card from FNB, which came with a PIN that you do not want to use. Use the following steps to change your PIN:
- I first inserted my new contactless card into the ATM and used the default PIN that I got from an FNB consultant.
- I selected “more options”
- then I selected “more services”
- then I selected “my settings”
- and selected “Change PIN” and followed what the ATM instructed me to do.

Security tips
- Do not give your PIN to anyone, not even a call centre agent. You are the only person who should know this number.
- Never write down your PIN or keep it with your card. Make sure that you memorize your PIN. Do not write it down on a piece of paper… If you do write the PIN down, keep it in a safe place, separate from your card
- Make sure you never let your card out of sight when making a transaction
- In the case of a lost or stolen card, please make sure you cancel your card by reporting it to a branch or calling the number on reverse (make a note of these for future use)
- In the case of fraud, please report this within 24 hours.
- When you use your card at an ATM, enter your PIN in such a way that no one can easily follow your keystrokes.
- If someone is standing too close to you and you feel you are being watched, rather walk away from the machine and draw money elsewhere.
- Change your online PIN and passwords regularly.
- PIN-based transactions with a card reported as lost or stolen are not covered by lost card protection.
- Make sure you are registered for inContact notifications by visiting any branch.
- inContact is a service from FNB which helps you keep track of your transactions.
